Advanced Percussion:
The advanced percussion class covers a wide spectrum of percussion instruments and musical styles. The fall season is dedicated to marching band instruments and the development of the "drumline" and the "pit." During the winter and spring season we begin to develop concert percussion techniques on the snare drum and mallet instruments. The class will then develop auxiliary instrument techniques along with "world" instruments techniques. These techniques are harnessed when playing a traditional repertoire of percussion ensemble literature. Drum set studies are also introduced and cover the areas of rock, jazz, and Latin. These ensembles will perform at our percussion concert, and our dinner concert.
Winter Drumline:
The Winter Drumline program is an after school percussion performing ensemble. Membership is obtained after completing the audition process. Auditions are held in early December and are open to anyone. Rehearsals are three days per week beginning in mid-December. Prior percussion experience will dictate which section you will be accepted into. All music, drill, uniforms, and overall show design is customized to you and your abilities. The Winter Percussion ensemble will perform in seven competitions throughout the winter and spring and will play in the annual dinner concert in June. There is an increased financial commitment for Drumline members. Please know that fundraising is available for all members to offset any financial concerns.
